How to help Oklahoma tornado victims

- I would rather volunteer my time because I'll know that my efforts are actually being used to help victims. I often wonder where the money goes. After big events like Katrina, Haiti, the 2004 (2006?) tsunami, etc, there was a lot of talk about victims still in dire straits.

- There were no witnesses? I know people are scared to become involved, but no one called the police or drew attention to what was happening? So two people just beat this man to death in front of his own restaurant and everyone else was like... oh well. This is disturbing.

- I am confused as to how this is any different from the "legal" way of setting up an adoption. Potential adoptive parents pay attorneys thousands of dollars to assist them with adoption. Sometimes adoptive parents pay medical bills and other bills for the birth mother.

- If the way this man tells it is true, then it's very sad all around. Did anybody ever consider if the daughters were being abused? The eldest daughter looks to have had a string of issues, including drugs and mental instability, before she killed her own daughter.

- I think you're missing the point. It wasn't the contents of the truck that led to the theft. The soup (or whatever they find) is an added bonus--it was the truck they wanted. Trucks like these are used to ferry illegals into the country.

- This is ludicrous. This could easily be resolved with some common sense. When the accounts start to go into the negative, you send a notice to the parents that state the child will not be able to receive lunch until the balance is settled.

- It's amazing how many people are harping over those checks. I hope you don't imagine that she's making bank or something. It's really just enough to survive on. What seems to me is that she is some sad old lady, devastated her friend died.
